The Australian-made slippers every girl needs

Back when isolation first began, I was coming to terms with the fact that my at-home wardrobe simply wouldn’t cut it for the then-forecasted few months of being inside. There was no way I was going to survive being at home for so long if I didn’t buy a few key items to spruce up the everyday and make it feel a little less same-same.

I first invested in some loungewear items and candles, so that spending all of our time at home didn’t feel quite so dreary, and then I bought myself some slippers.

These slippers, to be specific! They’re the Emu Australia Mayberry slippers in charcoal, and they’re incredible. I — like the rest of you — saw them allllll over Instagram throughout the months of March and April, and just knew they needed to be in my wardrobe. I’ve had my pair for around three months now and I don’t think a day has gone by where they have not been fastened firmly to my feet.

They’re perfect for the warm winters we have here on the Sunshine Coast, and are ideal for quickly slipping on and off as you go from bed to kitchen to couch to bathroom, and back again.

So, some advice for those of you looking to buy a pair: size up. I went up an entire shoe size for mine and they fit perfectly. Any smaller and I really feel they would have been a bit too snug to be comfortable. In terms of care, just keep them dry and wipe any spills with a damp cloth as soon as they happen. I went for the charcoal because I knew they wouldn’t show any signs of coffee spills or discolouration with wear. I’ve seen a few of the natural pairs in quite a state, but it really depends how and where you wear them. If you have dogs that go in and out of your house regularly, I’d really recommend sticking to the darker colours.
